I am the sea
I am the sun
I am the wind blowing in the world sky
I am the blue eyes
I am your blue eyes
Piercing the time that surrounds us
A ray of light that connects us
I want to go to the far reaches of the universe
And suddenly
I become invisible
And you become invisible
And all that's left is sound.
When life and death meet
With you
I begin
The Importance of Arts, Culture, The Creative Process, and how this project resonates with you:
Arts and humanities play a crucial role in expressing emotions, exploring identity, and connecting people across time and space. This poem, My Beginning, resonates deeply because it captures the fluidity of existence and the interconnectedness of life, nature, and the universe. The imagery of the sea, sun, and wind symbolizes the vast and ever-changing nature of life, while the mention of blue eyes and light conveys a personal yet universal connection. The creative process allows for deep reflection, and this poem beautifully illustrates how art can transcend physical boundaries, making the intangible—like emotions and spiritual connections—tangible.
What was the inspiration for your creative work?
The poem seems to be inspired by themes of transformation, unity, and the cyclical nature of life and death. The speaker describes becoming one with the elements, dissolving into sound, and beginning anew when life and death meet. This suggests an exploration of existence beyond the physical realm, possibly inspired by personal introspection, philosophical inquiry, or experiences of profound connection with another person. The desire to reach the “far reaches of the universe” symbolizes a longing for discovery and transcendence, making this poem both a personal and universal meditation on existence.
Tell us something about the natural world that you love and don’t wish to lose.
One of the most beautiful aspects of the natural world that I love and don’t wish to lose is the ocean. The vastness of the sea, its rhythmic waves, and its deep, mysterious life forms remind us of the planet’s incredible complexity and interconnectedness. The ocean is not just a source of beauty and inspiration; it regulates our climate, provides oxygen, and supports countless species. However, with rising temperatures, pollution, and overfishing, we are putting this vital ecosystem at risk. I hope future generations will still be able to experience the ocean in its full majesty, not as a cautionary tale of what was lost.
As for the kind of world we are leaving for the next generation, I often think about the balance between human progress and environmental responsibility. While we have made incredible advancements, we have also created a legacy of deforestation, pollution, and climate instability. It’s not too late to change course, but it requires real action—rethinking our consumption habits, investing in sustainable solutions, and fostering a mindset that values long-term well-being over short-term gains. The next generation deserves a planet that thrives, not one they have to fight to save.
